Public Meetings Regarding Amalgamation

There will be two public meetings regarding the proposal to amalgamate, which you are warmly invited to attend:

The first public meeting will be on Tuesday, 31st January at the school. Please arrive at our Main Reception at 352 Commercial Road in good time to sign in for a 6pm start.

The second public meeting will take place on Zoom at 18:00 on Tuesday, 7th February.

Proposal to amalgamate (combine) The Bishop Challoner Catholic Federation Boys’ and Girls’ Schools

Notice is thereby given, in accordance with The School Organisation (Establishment and Discontinuance of Schools) Regulations 2013, that Tower Hamlets Local Authority intends to discontinue Bishop Challoner RC Boys’ School by 31 August 2023. This notice includes the Local Authority’s proposal to make a prescribed alteration to Bishop Challoner Catholic Girls School’, by converting it to a boys and girls school and expanding its size from 5FE to 9FE. Bishop Challoner Catholic Girls’ School would be renamed as Bishop Challoner Catholic School from 1st
September 2023, in accordance with The School Organisation (Prescribed Alternations to Maintained Schools) (England) Regulations 2013. Pupils currently attending The Bishop Challoner Catholic Federation Boys’ and Girls’ Schools will continue in the amalgamated School.

Procedure for making representations (objections and comments)
Within four weeks from the date of publication of this statutory notice, any person may object
to or make comments on the proposal by email or by post.
