NEU STRIKE ACTION ON WEDNESDAY, 1ST FEBRUARY

SCHOOL WILL BE OPEN TO YEAR 11, SIXTH FORM AND VULNERABLE STUDENTS ONLY

You will be aware from media coverage that the National Education Union (NEU) have declared strike action, which is scheduled to take place on 1st February, 2nd March, 15th March and 16th March. The strike is happening because of a national dispute between the unions and the government, and not because of any issues at school.

Learning will be disrupted on 1st February. The NEU is the largest union in our school.

We recommend that you start to make alternative childcare arrangements for these dates.

The school will be open for Year 11, Sixth Form and vulnerable students on these days only.

I am sorry for the potential disruption to you and your child’s education. I understand this situation is frustrating, and ask that all members of our school community continue to treat each other with respect. Bishop Challoner remains committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our students and delivering high-quality teaching.

We are working closely with our staff union representative to keep us up to date with the situation, and I will inform you of the final arrangements as soon as possible.

Thank you for your co-operation and understanding.  My apologies for the inconvenience cause.

Yours sincerely

JP Morrison

Executive Headteacher
