School Meals Arrangements

School Catering

Bishop Challoner Catholic School outsources the school catering to Accent Catering. All food hygiene, health & safety, nutrition and healthy eating legislation is complied with.

Delicious and nutritious meals are offered at both break time and lunch time. Pupils have a choice of either hot or cold meals as well as vegetarian options. There is a 3 week menu which provides variety of choice.

AN UP TO DATE MENU IS AVAILABLE AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE.

Cashless Catering

School Meals are purchased from the Dining Hall and Coffee Shop using biometric technology.

Biometric technology means that each staff member and student at Bishop Challoner Catholic School will have their fingerprint registered which will then be translated to an Alpha Numeric number. The image is then discarded. When used, this will enter the staff member or pupil into the system program and identify them by a number.

To purchase a School Meal, the staff member or pupil simply places their finger on the scanner at the point of sale; a display will show the surname of the staff member or pupil. The selected food items will be entered into the system from an itemised keyboard while the amount spent will show on the display.

Parent Pay

Bishop Challoner uses a convenient way for parents / carers to make payments to the school via a secure service called ParentPay. We are working towards no longer accepting cash and cheque payments, making the school a cash-free environment. The system can be used to pay for school trips, equipment and governors fund donations as well as School Meals.

If you already have a ParentPay account, either with our school or another ParentPay school, you can simply login to that account and add your BCCCS account via the Add a child tab on your home page. You will need your child’s activation username and password from BCCCS.

If you are new to ParentPay you can activate your child’s secure online account using a unique activation username and password; you will be prompted to change these and to keep them safe and secure as your Username and Password for future logins. Please visit www.parentpay.com to activate your child’s account via the Account login area on the home page of the site.

Your child’s activation username and password is available from the Finance Office.
ParentPay holds an electronic record of your payments to view at a later date. Once you have activated your account you can make online payments, including for School Meals, straight away.

  • income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

If you are entitled to claim for free school meals for your child then I urge you to claim your statutory right as not applying will impact both pastorally and financially on our school and the service we can provide. All free school meal data is held securely in the school office and once your child has been registered and approved for free school meals they will automatically be added onto our cashless catering system.

Please help our school secure additional funding so we can provide the resources to help our students reach their full potential
