As Britain’s first federated school, our campus embraces a Boys’ School, a Girls’ School and a Sixth Form College. As a Catholic school, our ethos of providing the best education for all pupils embraces Christ’s own call to love others and to love God.
Our state-of-the-art buildings and facilities, along with a team of highly-experienced, innovative and dedicated staff, mean that your son or daughter’s school days will be challenging, stimulating and rewarding. I am pleased to write that we are now a member of the East London Teaching School Alliance and share our professional training as a newly launch Holocaust Beacon School. We serve as dynamic hub co-ordinating a network of local schools, helping them to develop confidence, proficiency and excellence in Holocaust teaching and learning.
The 2014 Ofsted inspection in April ranked Bishop Challoner Girls’ School ‘Outstanding’ in all areas and Bishop Challoner Boys’ School ‘Outstanding’ in both ‘Leadership’ and ‘Behaviour’ categories. The wealth of knowledge, commitment and expertise that is the current hallmark of this community is also its on-going strength. These qualities will ensure that this community continues to flourish in changing and challenging times.
We are proud to have strong links with companies both in The City and in Canary Wharf, and creative partnerships with universities such as Queen Mary’s and Oxford and Cambridge. The new Wells Fargo Ambassador Programme, highlights how our school works effectively with universities and business to train our Year 7, 8 and 11 pupils in numeracy and literacy. And their support for our pupils is at the heart of what we do at Bishop Challoner.
Bishop Challoner is at the forefront of artistic and sporting endeavour. Our pupils regularly play with and alongside the musicians at Clare College, Cambridge and at both the Wigmore Hall and with the LSO. Pupils are engaged in new media learning at The Barbican Film Theatre and with drama and careers work in local theatres, such as the Half-Moon and Shakespeare’s Globe. We are especially proud, too, of our Sixth Form's Young Doctors' Programme.
We have made great strides in raising our attainment levels and once again this year we have seen record numbers of students excel in their exams. This partnership will help provide our students with greater levels of aspiration and, just as importantly, give them the confidence and tools to take the first steps in their chosen careers and so achieve even greater success.
