GCSE Success in Both Schools
Bishop Challoner Boys’ and Girls’ Schools are happy to report another year of excellent results. Against a national picture of confusion and unrest surrounding changes to GCSEs, the schools are proud that their outstanding teaching and support allow every student to achieve their potential, and confident that these results will produce their highest ever Attainment 8 scores.
Results were particularly outstanding for the RE department, with an almost 80% 9-4 rate in both the Boys’ and Girls’ Schools, and the PE department who have also achieved their best results ever. Individual students that did particularly well include Richard Mdabi-Mpopo with 5 9s, 3 8s and a B, Kazi Zahin with 7 9s, 2 8s and an A and Nana Cargill who achieved 5 9s and 4 8s.
Richard Fitzgerald, Executive Headteacher is delighted with the results, saying: “We are very happy to see that our students have beaten national averages in both schools in nearly every subject especially in the core subjects of English and Maths but also with exceptional results in other subjects such as RE, PE and the Sciences. I would like to thank all of our teachers, students and parents for all the hard work they put in to make this possible.”
The vast majority of students receiving results will begin Year 12 at Bishop Challoner Sixth Form in September. The Post-16 team look forward to welcoming them into a Sixth Form that last week received another set of excellent results at AS and A Level.
These brilliant results are a fitting end to a successful year at Bishop Challoner, during which it was reaccredited as a ‘World Class’ school.
